Two Visions: November 3 Is a Choice, Not a Mood

Thirty-eight days from today, Americans will decide whether 2024 was a mandate or a two-year rental.

That is not poetry. It is House math. Democrats hold 215 seats. They need a net of three to take the gavel. The Cook Political Report said this week that Republicans are on track to lose the majority, with Democrats favored to pick up five to fifteen seats. If that happens, the border agenda, the crime agenda, the energy agenda, and the leverage that came with 2024 go back on the table.

I live in Florida. This is a national referendum that runs through every state. Conservative government or the socialist and communist direction now winning Democratic primaries. A country with a border, or a faction that ran this year on abolishing the agencies that keep one. Police and safe streets, or a program that treats police and prisons as problems to be dismantled. A country that is allowed to defend itself, or a coalition comfortable platforming a man who said America deserved 9/11.

Show up in mass, or they write the terms.

The choice is not complicated. It is two columns.

That is the contrast. Not every Democrat is a communist. The faction that just won the loudest Democratic primaries is not hiding the destination. Democratic Socialists of America co-chair Megan Romer said on Fox News this summer that the organization's program includes abolishing immigration enforcement, and that it is "absolutely" aimed at defunding the military and, eventually, abolishing police and prisons. The 2026 DSA program calls for ending ICE detention and deportations, legalizing migration, granting amnesty regardless of status, and "redirecting funding to public services as steps towards fully abolishing the police and prison system."

In New York, 143 elected officials signed a letter this year demanding that ICE be abolished and calling the agency a "secret police." That is not a blog comment. That is officeholders putting their names on the product.

If you want the House to ratify that direction, stay home. If you do not, November 3 is the date.

Michigan is the warning, not the whole country

Abdul El-Sayed won Michigan's Democratic Senate primary on August 4. He is a Democratic Socialist who campaigns on Medicare for All and has said, in his own words, that he would "rather end this dumb-ass war in Iran, abolish ICE, and spend our money on healthcare here at home."

He is also the test of a coalition.

Hasan Piker, the far-left streamer who campaigned with El-Sayed in the primary, said on a 2019 Twitch stream: "America deserved 9/11, dude." El-Sayed did not say that sentence. There is no honest way to put Piker's words in El-Sayed's mouth. What El-Sayed did was appear with Piker, then treat the demand to separate from him as a "gotcha game." On August 9, after weeks of pressure, he told NBC's Meet the Press that Piker's line was a "dumb statement" and that "America didn't deserve 9/11." He still refused to say he would stop campaigning with him.

That sequence is the point. Platform first. Sanitize second. Call the question "gotcha." The 9/11 standard is not a personality test. It is a country test. A political coalition that will not draw a hard line around "America deserved 9/11" is telling you how it thinks about this country.

The border is not a vibe. It is a ledger.

The other side will say the last four years of Biden-Harris border policy were "encounters," not a crisis. Fine. Use their word.

Customs and Border Protection recorded more than 10.8 million nationwide encounters from the start of Fiscal Year 2021 through Fiscal Year 2024, including more than 8.72 million at the southwest border, according to House Homeland Security's compilation of CBP data. CBP also recorded roughly two million known gotaways in that window. Encounters are events, not unique people. Repeat crossers are in the count. The number is still the largest surge in modern record-keeping.

Then the policy changed. Southwest Border Patrol encounters between ports of entry fell to 237,538 in Fiscal Year 2025, according to CBP figures compiled by Pew. That is not a mystery either. Enforcement works when a country decides it has a border.

The left's program is to reverse that decision. Abolish ICE. A world without borders. Amnesty regardless of status. If they take the House, the 2024 enforcement shift is the first thing on the chopping block. You do not have to guess. They already wrote it down.

Gas is high. It is not the 2022 record. And it is not a mystery.

The left will put $4.49 gas on Donald Trump and stop there. Here is the rest of the ledger.

AAA's national average for regular gasoline on September 26, 2026, is $4.49 a gallon. Florida is $4.40. A year ago the national number was $3.16. The climb is real. AAA says this is the highest September average it has ever recorded.

The record for regular gasoline is still $5.02, set June 14, 2022, under Joe Biden. Florida's 2022 high was $4.89. West Texas Intermediate crude is about $92 a barrel this week. In March 2022, after Russia invaded Ukraine, WTI traded into the $120s and Brent ran near $130.

Diesel is the exception. AAA diesel set a new record near $6.53 this week. Freight feels that first.

Two war premiums. That is the honest frame.

2022 was Russia into Ukraine, tight inventories, and demand roaring back after COVID. Biden also treated the Strategic Petroleum Reserve like a tap instead of treating American production as the strategy.

2026 is the Iran war and the Strait of Hormuz. About a fifth of the world's oil used to move through that strait. AAA has said out loud this month that Hormuz volatility and crude near or over $100 are driving the pump. The United States is still the world's top crude producer. EIA put 2025 output at a record 13.6 million barrels a day. The price is not "we forgot how to drill." The price is a chokepoint in the Persian Gulf.

There is a reason the war exists. Iran has been a U.S.-designated state sponsor of terrorism since January 19, 1984. It is the leading one. It arms proxies. It built a nuclear program the IAEA could not fully monitor. It treats its own people, especially women, as subjects. A politics that uses $4.49 gas to make you forget that ledger is not economics. It is amnesia with a price tag.

Nobody likes wartime prices. Pretending the alternative is cheap gas and an Iranian bomb is the lie.

Socialism is not a new idea. It is a failed one.

The United States is the most prosperous large nation in the history of markets. That is not because a central committee allocated flour. It is because private property, prices, and profit-and-loss told millions of people what to make and what to stop making.

Socialism's record is not a theory seminar. It is empty shelves, black markets, and a political class that calls the wreckage "equity." Medicare for All, as El-Sayed has described it, means the federal government as the single payer and "a little bit more in taxes" instead of a premium. State-run health care is not a coupon. It is a takeover of the largest sector of the private economy, paid out of the paycheck.

If the socialist formula worked, the countries that ran it would be the ones people risk their lives to enter. They are not. People still come here. That is the verdict of the last century, and it does not change because a primary electorate in a safe seat liked the branding.

Free markets did not make America rich by accident. Command economies did not make other countries poor by accident either.

The House is the lock

Cook's September 25 ratings update is the warning shot. Republicans are favored in fewer House races than Democrats after fifteen ratings moved toward the left. The most competitive seats are in districts Donald Trump carried in 2024. The president is underwater. Gas is up. The Iran war is in month seven. Midterms punish the party in the White House. That is the pattern.

It is not destiny. 2024 was not supposed to be a sweep either, until the same voters who were told to stay home decided not to. If that base shows up again, the ten-percent chance of keeping the House stops being a prediction market and starts being a turnout problem for the other side.

If they get the House, 2024 is a two-year rental. Subpoenas. Spending. Immigration riders. Energy riders. The gavel. Everything this country just voted for goes back into committee.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

In Florida, the book closes October 5 if you still need to register. Early voting runs October 24 through October 31. You do not have to wait for Election Day. You do have to appear.

Conservatives do not keep a country by staying home and hoping the other faction gets tired. We keep it by showing up in mass. Take one person. Drive them. Text them the date.

Two visions. One House. Thirty-eight days.

A country with a border, police, work, energy, and no apology for existing.

Or the direction that just told you, in writing, that it wants to abolish the first two and unwind the rest.
